The Marin County Free Library staff members share a love of reading. Our reading tastes range across all genres, from biography to graphic novels. We read (and listen) in all formats, from paperbacks to books on CD to eReaders. We also love movies, TV shows, music-- just about all media you can mention. But reading is just the beginning.
We also like to share great books we've enjoyed, and pass along ideas for that next amazing read we think everyone is looking for--so in this blog we'll feature recent reading experiences from staff. We hope you'll find something that will appeal to your reading tastes!
Starting off, a staff member in Fairfax shares:
Right now I'm reading "The Good Thief" by Hannah Tinti, which was a staff pick at Fairfax Library. It drew me right into the revolutionary era (I think) New England setting, and I'm very engaged by the characters.
And I just watched Angels in America on DVD, which is based on the play by Tony Kushner, and directed by Mike Nichols. It has amazing performances, especially by Meryl Streep and Emma Thompson. My favorite quote is by Meryl Streep, trying to get directions to Brooklyn from a crazy homeless woman (played by Emma Thompson): "look, I know you're psychotic, but try to make an effort. Pull yourself together and tell me how to get to Brooklyn!"
