Pissarro's People, by Richard R. Brettell (book jacket)Nearly 100 works of art by Camille Pissarro are featured at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco through January 22, 2012.  This exhibition features drawings and paintings of human figures from all walks of life and from all phases of Pissarro's career.  His family, his political beliefs, and the art movements of his time all influenced his work.

To enhance your appreciation of the exhibit, check out the resources of Marin libraries. The exhibit catalog, Pissarro’s People, is available. Other books include Pissarro; Pissarro, His Life and Work; Camille Pissarro; Pissarro and Pontoise: the painter in a landscape; Pioneering Modern Painting: Cezanne & PIssarro; Camille Pissarro: impressionism, landscape and rural labor, and The Impressionist and the City: Pissarro's series paintings.

A children’s book on Camille Pissarro is also available.

Several DVD's on the history of Impressionism provide additional insights. They include A History of European Art; The Impressionists: the other French revolution; and The Impressionists.
