Tax time is here--  and the library is here to help.  We've added a Tax Information area on our Research and Learning page.  Your local branch is a good place to look for basic forms.  For more detailed instructions, additional forms, and information about efiling, check the IRS site, the California Franchise Tax Board site, and for out-of-state forms, the Federation of Tax Administrators site. 

Beginning February 1st, AARP Tax Aides will be available to provide free assistance to low and middle income taxpayers (with special attention to seniors) at several sites in Marin County, including the Fairfax Library.  Tax Aide is a free, one on one, confidential income tax counseling and tax return preparation service for taxpayers who file basic income tax forms. Tax help from the AARP Tax Aides is available on a first come, first served, basis, only -- no appointments taken.
