I am an avid listener of audio books.  I generally download them from the Library’s website.  As anyone who listens to audiobooks knows, a good reader is essential.  One book that lends itself extremely well to a listening experience is The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, by Mary Ann Shaffer.  This historical novel, set on an island in the English Channel  just after WWII, is epistolary:  it consists of letters written by the characters.  In the audio version, each letter writer is read by a different reader.  The distinctive dialects and personalities of the voices enhance the meaning and effect of the story.  This book is available both on CD and as a downloadable audio.
