Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, the beloved South African anti-apartheid revolutionary and politician, died on December 5 at the age of 95. After spending 27 years in prison, he was released and became South Africa’s first black president. In 1996 he shared the Nobel Peace Prize with fellow South African politician F.W. de Klerk.
