Welcome to the Marin County Free Library’s annual Summer Reading Program for your entire family!
Reading over the summer helps children maintain and increase their reading skills, and reading for fun broadens their horizons and develops new interests. Our young Summer readers receive a prize for every week they read at least 3 hours. Our many programs during the summer offer free constructive, supervised enrichment activities where kids can learn, socialize, and have fun.
Teen readers post opinions about the books they read. For every book they read and post about, they will be automatically entered into a weekly raffle to win a prize gift card or tickets to a San Francisco Giants ball game. At the end of the Summer Reading Program all entries will be included in the branch grand prize raffle. Teens can also participate in any number of activities like sushi or pizza making, chocolate tasting, henna art, creating designs that light up and much more.
Adults who sign up to join will select a complimentary cookbook courtesy of the Friends of the Library bookstore, the Book Place. For each review submitted, 50 cents will be donated to the Marin Food Bank (up to a total of $500). Each review will also equal one chance to win a raffle prize at the end of the program.
The Library is also encouraging everyone to “Acquire a Taste for Giving”. Please help the hungry by donating non-perishable food at all MCFL location for the Marin Food Bank. Items such as tuna or canned meat, peanut butter and cereal are most appreciated.
The Summer Reading Program is funded entirely by the generosity of the Friends of the Marin County Free Library.
Kids, Teens, Adults and Families can see a listing of all events and sign up at their local MCFL branch or online.
