General Information
Our library shares a catalog, a tool that inventories our collection, with all the other public libraries in Marin County. This is done through an organization called MARINet. Thus, the Marin County Free Library's catalog is often referred to as the "MARINet Catalog", or sometimes just as "MARINet".
To access many of the features of the MARINet catalog, first you need a library card, and then you need to set up a library PIN number. Once you have a PIN number, you will be able to do the following:
- Access your account information, including the status of your loans and requests
- Place a hold on an item
- Renew a book
- Access Electronic Books and other digital content subscribed to by the library
Setting up a PIN Number
A PIN (short for "Personal Identification Number") is a password that provides security for your account in the MARINet catalog. Unlike the name implies, your PIN may consist of a combination of letter, numbers, or punctuation. A good password should combine the three, and be six or more characters long. Shorter or less complex passwords may compromise the security of your account.
Keeping this in mind, follow the MARINet Instructions for Creating a PIN carefully. (The link will open in a new window or tab so you can come back to this page when you are done.)
Finding Your Barcode
When you log into your My MARINet account, you will be prompted for a "Barcode". In this field you should enter the number below the barcode on the back of your library card. This number begins with "2111100". The beginning of the number will already appear in the field.
