Visit the Fairfax Library this October to view historic photographs collected by Marin historian Dewey Livingston and Point Reyes National Seashore archivist, Carola DeRooy. These rare photographs tell the story of West Marin's first people, the Coast Miwok, followed by the Mexican rancho era, the development of a dairy empire during the gold rush, dramatic maritime history, and the distinctive towns that sprung up around them. Learn why the Point Reyes Peninsula, often called an "Island in Time", has retained its rural character in the populated Bay Area and why generations of people have sought out the beauty and diverse geography of the peninsula for recreation and inspiration.
