The public is invited to the Marin City Library on Tuesday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m. as local author and historian Marilyn Geary gives a fascinating, illustrated talk uncovering the history of African-Americans in Marin--from the first arrivals to the Great Migration.

Marilyn's talk will include highlights about individuals such as John ("Black John") Pinkston, Nat Smith, and Daniel Brown (pictured, circa 1876), each of whom made unique contributions to Marin's early history. Marilyn has a rich knowledge of Marin's history, and many of her contributions are in the Marin County Free Library collection.

Light refreshments will be served courtesy of the Friends of the Marin City Library. The library is located at 164 Donahue Street, Marin City, CA 94965. For more information, please call (415) 332-6158.
