Marin County Library Foundation votes to donate $40,000 to fund Literacy programs

San Rafael, CA –

The Marin County Library Foundation voted to donate $40,000 to two Marin County Library programs that promote Literacy in Marin County.

The  F.L.A.G.ship program (Families Learning and Growing) offers education and health workshops to adults and their children from birth to 5 years old. Storytimes, songs, games, puppets, crafts, and other kindergarten-readiness activities are presented to children in under-served and remote communities aboard the F.L.A.G.ship bus.

West Marin Literacy Services offers small classes and one-on-one tutoring in the communities of Tomales, Point Reyes, Inverness, Bolinas, and San Geronimo to adults who wish to improve their ability to read, write, and speak English.

Both programs rely largely upon grant funding and donations and are very grateful to the Foundation for this generous gift.   First Five and the Parent Services Project through the PreK-3 Initiative from Marin Community Foundation also provide funding.
