To find information about the story and the ballet, go to the MARINet catalog and type in the title:  Nutcracker.  By clicking on the Limit This Search button at the top of the page you can limit to books, DVDs, or music.  If you type in the author:  Hoffman E T A  and scroll down to the title Nutcracker, you'll get a different list of books.  The library materials are popular at this time of the year, so get them before they're all taken!
