Hooked on Call the Midwife

Are you hooked on the new PBS series Call the Midwife?  If so, here are some books and another PBS series that might interest you.  First, there’s the memoir on which the TV series is based: Call the Midwife: A Memoir of Birth, Joy, and Hard Times by Jennifer Worth.  Two other memoirs about midwives are: Labor of Love: A Midwife’s Memoir by Cara Muhlhahn, and Baby Catcher: Chronicles of a Modern Midwife by Peggy Vincent.  Two stories about midwives are: The Midwife of Hope River by Patricia Harman (one of several books by her about midwifery) and The Birth House by Ami Mckay.  Finally, there’s the PBS series Bramwell starring Gemma Redgrave as a public health heroine in Victorian-era London.  Check them out at your local library.
