The opening ceremony of the 34th America’s Cup will take place tomorrow, July 4th, at America’s Cup Park on the San Francisco waterfront. The America’s Cup match will take place this September on the San Francisco Bay, and will be raced in AC72 wing-sail catamarans.  The Golden Gate Yacht Club is the defender, since its team, Oracle Team USA, defeated the Swiss Alinghi team of Societe Nautique de Geneve in the 2010 America’s Cup race.  The winner will be decided by the best of 17 matches.  The Louis Vuitton Cup, a series of races which starts tomorrow and runs through the end of August, will determine the challenger to the Oracle team.
