Parents – are you eager to get more books for your kids who are learning to read, practicing reading, or just looking for more stories and picture books to enjoy? Need to save time with school now starting? Would you like this whole process to be quicker, easier and more streamlined?
We hear you! On September 22 MCFL is rolling out a new service for patrons: Book Bundles for Kids!
This idea was developed by our Children’s Services Team in an effort to get more books into the hands of young children and emerging readers. We wanted to start by supporting early learning and literacy which aligns with MCFL’s Education Equity initiatives. Parents can fill out a form for Book Bundles on our website or call our Talk to a Librarian Help Line at 415-473-2272, Monday – Friday, 9am-6pm, and a librarian will take your request by phone.
There are three categories of book bundles for different reading levels: picture books, easy readers, and easy chapter books. Each bundle includes ten books. You can choose up to three bundles.
Within the picture book category, there are options to select topics like Things That Go, Fantasyland, Concepts, Classics, Nature, All About Me, Our World, Our Favorites, Spanish/Bilingual, or Surprise Me!
Within the easy reader/easy chapter categories, the options are to choose a level: Level 1 (easiest), Level 2, Level 3, or Easy Chapter.
Library staff will prepare the bundles for each request, hand-picking selections from available books, and make the bundles ready for pickup through our curbside service. You will be notified when your bundle is ready. You should allow 3-4 days for your request to be filled.
