The Zip Books program provided library users with quick access to printed books, audiobooks, and eBooks that were not part of their local library’s collection.
Using Zip Books, a library user requested a title, library staff ordered the book, and a vendor shipped it to the user’s home. When finished, the user returned the book to the library and it became part of the library’s collection or was shared with another library system.
The program helped all Californians access library books, no matter where they lived or how hard it was to travel to the library.
The statewide program concluded in June 2026.
