What is The Lab?

The Lab is a makerspace, creator-space, hackerspace, coding-space, gaming-space, idea-space, and much more. Our goal is to inspire creativity, entrepreneurship, design, play, mentorship, and collaboration.

We offer free access to resources and technology for all library patrons. The Lab is open to all ages and skill levels, and is most suited to ages 8 and up, depending on the equipment. Patrons will receive training in order to use the equipment.

LEVEL 1 vs LEVEL 2

Level 1 Programming

Training and waiver not required for Level 1 programs.

Programs include: 3D Printing, Cricut, Podcasting, Virtual Reality (VR) Headsets, Video Recording, Photography, Gaming Consoles, 3D Scanning, Computer Software, and Computer Usage.

Level 2 Programming

Training and waiver are required for Level 2 programs.

Programs include: Laser Cutting, and Soldering.

Waiver

Required for Level 2 programming only

The Lab Guidelines

  1. No users under the age of eight (8) allowed inside without a parent or guardian.
  2. Activities involving the laser cutter or soldering may require safety equipment.
  3. No tools may leave The Lab under any circumstances.
  4. All materials are available for use in The Lab, but stock is limited. For larger personal projects, you may be requested to provide those materials yourself.
  5. Consistent waste of materials is prohibited and may lead to removal from the program.
  6. In the event of an emergency, all projects must immediately come to a stop and The Lab must be vacated.
  7. All users over the age of eighteen (18) must individually sign the waiver. Users under the age of eighteen (18) must have a parent or guardian complete and sign the waiver. Each waiver is good for one year and is only required for Level 2 programming.
  8. No weapons of any kind will be made in The Lab or brought inside The Lab.
