Library Card Design Contest Now Open!
Show off your creativity and design the next MCFL library card!
Submit your original artwork between June 1 and July 6 (at 8pm) for a chance to have your design turned into one of our Limited Edition library cards this fall.
The Library Card Design Contest is open to all ages. 12 winning designs will be selected: 4 kids (0-11), 4 teens (12-17), and 4 adults (18+).
The theme "Community Joy" invites artists to draw inspiration from what your library and your community mean to you. Consider these key words as you think about your design: Joy, Love, Friendship, Respect, Community, Equity/Sharing, Learning, Play, Teaching.

How to Enter
- Print the entry form, or pick one up from one of our libraries.
- Fill out the entry form and sign.
- Create your design using the template attached to the entry form.
Visit a design station at our libraries to create your masterpiece, or design at home. - Give your entry to a library staff member at any of our libraries by July 6 at 8pm.
Please note: By entering artwork, artists grant the Marin County Free Library a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and distribute the work.
Eligibility
To enter the contest:
- Only one entry per person.
- Must live, work, or go to school in Marin County to enter.
- Open to all ages.
- Entry must be submitted using the design template.
- Entry must be received by July 6 at 8pm.
No late entries will be accepted. - Entry can be submitted at any of our library branches or by mail to:

Voting
- Library staff will conduct the first rounds of voting.
- You'll have a chance to vote on the finalists. Visit one of our libraries from July 19 to August 2 to cast your vote!
- Voting is open to anyone who lives, works, or goes to school in Marin County.
Winning Designs
- Winners will be notified in August.
- Winning designs will be announced and launched on September 2.
- Come to the library to sign up for a new card or swap out your current card for one of the 12 winning designs! (Available while supplies last.)
