Winter at MCFL: A New Chapter in Year-Round Learning
As we welcome a new year, the library remains a warm and vibrant place for learning, creativity, and community connection. Across all our branches, winter programs support families, students, and lifelong learners through hands-on activities and experiences that bring people together. We’re also proud to join the County of Marin in celebrating the Holiday Lights Spectacular, a joyful seasonal tradition that lights up the winter months.
Families can explore an array of engaging programs, storytimes, Kids' Clubs, Lego building, and craft sessions, and maker activities like the Fabric & Fiber Makers' Club and weekly Crafternoons. In alignment with our sustainability goals, we’re hosting several community swap events this season, including Recipe Swaps, Toy Swaps, and Puzzle Swaps, encouraging reuse, sharing, and connection.
Students continue to benefit from Homework Helpers and Reading Buddies, with additional daily literacy support through Smarty Ants at Marin City. Adults looking to practice English can join our ESL conversation groups, including El Chit Chat Club online and our in-person English and Spanish Conversation Clubs.
This January, we are honored to host the Unole Women's Powwow Circle at Civic Center Library, a powerful opportunity to learn from and celebrate Native culture, tradition, and community.
Winter also offers knitting circles, tech help, book clubs, trivia, caregiver and veterans support groups, and seed libraries to help gardeners prepare for spring. Teens continue their leadership through volunteering and contributions to The Spire, our youth-created magazine.
Winter at the library is a season of connection, creativity, and joyful learning.
