Why eBooks? 

The library’s eBooks collections are available for viewing and downloading 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and provide access to a variety of popular titles for free.  eBooks never have late fees, can’t be torn, scratched or damaged, and multiple titles can be loaded onto your reading device of choice, making it easy to carry books with you anywhere you go.

How do I search for eBooks? 

You can search for particular titles of eBooks directly in the library catalog. Titles from OverDrive, 3M Cloud, and enki are listed right along with physical books and audio CDs.  Axis360 titles also soon will be available in the library catalog.  Click on the catalog links to be taken to your selected ebook.

For general browsing, it is better to visit each eBook service separately.  Use the descriptions below to find the collection that is right for you.  For example, if you want to listen to an eAudiobook, you should use OverDrive or OneClick Digital. If you read on a Kindle paperwhite, you need the OverDrive service.  For ease of use on a tablet, the 3M service is great.  OverDrive and the 3M Cloud Library are the library’s main sources for downloadable eBooks.

An eBooks lending system for full color eBooks that you can download via the 3M Cloud Library app. Find and checkout 3M titles through the library catalog or through the 3M website or app.  Access your eBooks across different devices, including iPads, iPhones, Android phones and devices, Nooks, Kobos and PCs. 

  • Downloadable; check out up to 8 titles at a time; place up to 10 titles on hold
  • Best for iPads, NOOKs, PCs or smartphones; not compatible with older Kindles; can be used with Kindle Fires using a ‘sideload’ technique.  Wyoming Libraries has a helpful, written tutorial.
  • 3M Cloud Library Reader app available for free for mobile devices and both PC and Mac destops.

Axis 360 digital media library by Baker & TaylorAxis 360 eBooks

Axis 360 offers full color eBooks, as well as popular titles. The blio reading app is 100% compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and blio format eBooks include text-to-speech (TTS) capability for the print-impaired.  With the Windows desktop version of the blio reading app, some titles are enhanced by color, video, and audio.  In addition, use the AxisReader app and check out titles directly from your mobile device.

  • Best for tablets, iPads, NOOKs, PCs or smartphones; not compatible with older Kindles; can be used with Kindle Fires using a ‘sideload’ technique for the reader apps. Try it using this helpful, written tutorial.
  • Blio reader app available for free for mobile devices and PCs.  Blio is currently not compatible with Mac desktops/laptops.

Enki Library

Over 16,000 titles available to download or read online. The Enki Library is hosted by Califa, and is the eBook collection created by libraries, for libraries. enki brand

  • Best for iPads, NOOKs, PCs or smartphones; not compatible with older Kindles; can be used with Kindle Fires using a Bluefire Reader for Android

An eAudiobook lending system for audio books that you can download via the OneClickdigital Media Manager app. The eAudiobooks can be accessed from different devices, including iPods, iPads, iPhones, smartphones, and Android tablets.

  • Best for smartphones and tablet computers. Compatible with iOS and Android devices, Kindle Fire, and Nook tablets, and MP3 players.
