  • Features free wi-fi access, comfortable chairs for reading, study or meeting your neighbor.
  • Lovely garden with benches available for enjoying the outdoors.
  • Computer classes, book clubs for adults and children, monthly “Read to a Dog” opportunities for kids, storytimes, as well as many programs for all ages.
  • Large, up-to-date collection of books, paperbacks, books on CD, large-type books, DVDs, magazines and newspapers.

  • Reserve a computer at the library.
  • 13  public Internet computers for adults & teens.
  • 5 computer catalog/computer reservation/digital content workstations for adults.
  • 1 Early Literacy (AWE) computer for children.

  • Computer reservations are recommended. Reservations can be made at the branch or online.

Meeting Room/ Study Space

  • Corte Madera Library does not have private meeting rooms, but we do have public study tables that can be shared by tutors & students. Tutor policy

Donating Books & Materials

  • We accept small quantities of donations at the branch (due to limited storage space).
  • Larger donations can be taken to the bookstore run by the Friends – Book Place.
  • Books should be in good condition. We also accept DVDs, CDs and magazines.
  • We do not accept textbooks. (The Friends do not accept textbooks or magazines).
  • Donated items are usually sold at the branch or at the Friends bookstore.

Corte Madera Library in the Parkside Hotel Building

History of the Corte Madera Library:  The Corte Madera branch of the Marin County Free Library opened in January 1928 in the Parkside Hotel Building, which it shared with the Post Office.  More information about the library is available in "The Building of the Corte Madera Library", a summary prepared by Nancy Davis.

Storytimes

A variety of children's storytimes are held throughout the year, including:
  • Mother Goose on the Loose for babies 0-24 months.
    Tuesday mornings 10 - 10:30 a.m.
  • Toddler Storytime for 2 year olds.
    Wednesday mornings 10 - 10:30 a.m.
  • Preschool Storytime for ages 3-6 years.
    Wednesday mornings 11 - 11:30 a.m.
