Welcome to the Fairfax Library

  • Browse our collection of books, DVDs, audiobooks, large print books, music CDs, magazines and newspapers.
  • Comfortable chairs for reading, studying or meeting your neighbor and individual study carrels are available.
  • Enjoy book clubs, weekly storytimes and a variety of programs for all ages.
  • Free wi-fi access and internet tutoring on how to use our public computers are provided.
  • Spanish language materials for children, teens and adults are offered. Spanish-speaking staff are sometimes available.

  • 4 self check out stations
  • 1 ADA workstation
  • Computer reservations are recommended. Reservations can only be made online from school, work, home or using catalog stations at the branch.
  • Wi-fi access is available throughout the branch.
  • Laptop users at the library can connect to our public printers if they download the print client from our website. Check with library staff for more information.

  • Handicapped parking spaces available.
  • Accessible self-check machines and book return.

Meeting Room/ Study Space

  • Fairfax Library has a public meeting room available to local community groups. Please contact our Meeting Room Coordinator regarding reservation procedures and fees.
  • Individual study carrels and tables are available. Tutors should refer to our Tutor policy.

Gallery Space

  • Artwork displays in our meeting room rotate on a monthly basis. Please contact our Display Coordinator for further details.

Donating Books & Materials

  • We accept small quantities of donations at the branch (due to limited storage space).
  • Larger donations can be taken to a bookstore run by the Friends of the Marin County Free Library – Book Place.
  • Books should be in good condition. We also accept DVDs, videos, CDs and magazines.
  • We do not accept textbooks. The Book Place also does not accept textbooks or magazines.
  • Donated items are usually sold at the branch or at the Friends bookstore.

Welcome to the Fairfax Library! I am excited to be a member of this community, and part of our fantastic staff delivering excellent and dynamic customer service to every visitor. Our branch features a monthly art exhibit, comfortable seating inside or on the deck, and a beautiful memorial garden out back. Thanks to the support of our Friends of the Library we have new carpeting and a well-used Teen area.
